Increase sales and profit on eBay

Thousands of people are earning a living selling items on eBay. Being an eBay power seller can be expensive and time consuming. Here are some tips to help you succeed.

1. Know what your item is worth - Before posting an item for sale research the value of the item and search completed items that are similar and see how much they sold for. While looking at completed items, check how the original auction was set-up and what kind of traffic it received, it will give you a hint on how to create your auction. How many people have looked at the listing and how many bids did it receive.

2. Make sure you list your time so that it ends when eBay is the busiest. This will allow you to increase the change of a bidding war, which in urn will increase your profits. Most people are on the Internet in the evening.

3. Know how people are searching. Research your item and figure out what keywords people use to search for the item. Make sure to include these keywords in your title. Your title should be catchy and make a person want to look at it.

4. Include as much information as you can about the item. Include pictures, items are 80% more likely to sell for a higher price if clear pictures are included.

5. If you are new to eBay, buy or sell some low price (less than $1) so you can build your reputation.

6. Buy It Now or Auction. If you item is rare and most likely will be bid up, create an auction, however, if it is common, list it as a buy it now item and list at least $1.00 cheaper than similar items already posted.

7. To avoid paying more PayPal fees, increase your shipping cost a little so you are not paying eBay fees.

I just thought Id warn you and your readers to avoid ebay after their new and VERY unfair treatment of sellers.
Check out the forums for information but basically they have upped their final value fee, removed the option to sell digital products (unless you pay nearly $10 for a classified add) and have removed the sellers right to give buyers negative feedback! (buyers can still neg sellers)
They dont want mom and dad sellers any more - they are only interested in power sellers. Do a google search for online auctions and save yourself big $ on "feebays" high fees!
