I found this article when I was researching a question aske on Mylot and thought that I would share it. If you have an affiliate web site to Market or a blog, this is a must read:

Many people make website promotion a lot harder than it has to be. Website promotion is quite easy if you break it down much like you might your ABCs. Web promotion is part of a comprehensive internet marketing campaign. There are several components of successful web promotion campaigns.

Ingredients of Successful Website Promotion Campaigns

So what's included in successful website promotion campaigns? That's easy. Here is what a good website promotion campaign should include:

* Email marketing - good website promotion always includes email marketing in the form of email advertising, auto responders, a newsletter or e-zine and sometimes e-courses.
* Web articles - if you don't have any web articles out, make a point to write some as part of your web marketing efforts.
* META tags - if you don't have META tags on your pages, all of the pages on your website, then go back and put them on. You don't have to have them but they certainly help with search engine optimization, and search engine marketing. A META description tag is essential if you want to increase your page rank on any major search engine.
* Keyword Phrases - make sure you have content and titles that are rich in keyword optimized phrases. If you aren't sure then do a search. Google will let you search for popular keywords. Find out what people are searching for and then include those terms on your pages. If you don't include the terms people search for the people won't find you on the web. It really is that simple.
* Reciprocal links - make sure you have plenty of inbound and outbound web links. Web linking is a terrific way to boost traffic and form good relationships with complementary businesses and web partners online. This will help increase your traffic and boost your reputation on the web. You can also network with other people in like-minded industries.
* Testimonials/References - often people want to hear from other people about their experiences. Why don't you post some of these on your web pages and in your email advertising or in your content? That way people will feel more comfortable when they reach out to do business with you. The more credible these references or testimonials, the more likely people are to trust you. If you can get an endorsement with a photograph of someone, this will work even better. And, if you are lucky enough to get a celebrity endorsement, you are probably going to win a LOT of visitors and paying customers!

Terry Detty knows that with Email Advertising and Internet Marketing, his website will rank higher in the search engines.
